My Most Recent Purchase

Hello everyone. Long time no speak. I hope you’re all doing great! I certainly am.

In today’s post I’m going to be discussing my favourite new handy item, something called moustache wax.

To those who aren’t aware, this is a wax (which usually comes in a small tin) that once slightly heated, can be applied to your moustache.

‘What’s the purpose of this application?’ I here you say. Well, the reason it is used is to help control, contort and most importantly shape your growing moustache. Something that I was in desperate need of as soon as mine had grown past the standard length.

applying moustache wax

All of this came about last November. As you may or may not know, in the UK it has almost become some sort of tradition for men to grow their moustache in November. It’s all for charity and a good cause, but the problem was that this year I decided not to chop it off come December. In fact, now its March and my moustache is the longest it has ever been!

Because of this massive increase of facial hair, come January I was in desperate need of something that would help keep it presentable and in check. I needed something that could control my wilder moustache hairs, and after a few hours of research, I came to the conclusion that moustache wax was just the ticket.

That very day, I decided to buy some. Dare I say it, it’s probably the best life decision I have made in the last few months. I look so much more dapper and presentable now. I had a job interview a few weeks ago which I did very well in, and I believe my overall presentation played a big part. I even also getting more attention from the female species, so I can’t complain.

So, all in all, if you have a growing moustache, my advice to you is to invest in some wax, and do it soon!

What Next?

In the short time that this website has been up and running I am happy to pronounce that I have covered a good base and reviews a couple of products that I definitely think were worthy of being written about!

The question now is, what do I turn to now?

Should I continue writing about products that I’d like to review or go in a completely new direction all together. Please feel free to get in touch if you’d like me to do one thing instead of the other, and I will happily listen with open ears. Either way, more posts coming your way soon!

My Latest Purchase – Dryer Balls

Hello once again my loyal readers. It’s been a good while since I last made contact with you. This time round I wanted to cover something a little out of the ordinary. It’s not something that inspires too much enthusiasm or excitement. Nonetheless, it might end up being considered an integral part of your monthly shopping once you fully understand what it’s used for.

Nevertheless, let me get to the good stuff and inform all of you lovely people as to what it is i’m talking about exactly.

Today, the product under the microscope is something called dryer balls. Have you ever had a job interview and to your shock realised that the clothes you were hoping to wear aren’t actually clean.

Similarly, have you ever been getting ready for a date and realised the perfect outfit you had planned to wear is in the laundry basket.

Sure, in these circumstances you may have the time to chuck them in the washing machine and get them clean; but do you have the time to get them dry? If you don’t have a tumble dryer then the answer is probably no. Without one, clothes can take hours and hours to dry.

Luckily there is a solution though. Recently a brand new product has come to my attention that can help whenever this kind of conundrum arises. Their name? Dryer balls. These little babies are nothing short of miracle makers.

‘How do they work?’ I can hear you say. As you place your clothes into the washing machine for a quick wash, you chuck 1 or 2 of these dryer balls (depending on their size) into the washing machine too.

During the wash, the balls act as absorbers and ensure that when the wash is complete, the clothes come out significantly more dry than they would if they were washed without the balls.

In preparation for this post, we tried a few of these dryer balls out for ourselves. By following the link just provided you can see our favourite!

Anyhow, after trying them out we realised what a complete and utter time saver they are. Don’t miss out and try some now!

1st Quarter Down

The first quarter of the year is now complete? How crazy is that? Time seems to be moving at a ridiculously crazy pace at the moment. I just can’t keep up. Luckily one thing I never fail to do is buy things! I’ve bought loads of things in the last 3 months and I can’t wait to tell you more about them. Don’t go anywhere – absence is the place to be!

Beard Balm Is King

Today I wanted to tell you all about my latest shopping experience. March is a great month of the year. It’s usually the time when winter finally decides to break and spring has seemingly sprung (fingers crossed!). The temperature begins to pick up, and everywhere you go you sense a feeling of optimism amongst the populous.

Everyone has finally paid off their credit card bills from christmas, a nice Easter break is just around the corner, and more importantly, summer is on the horizon. The rise in temperature usually means that people slowly stop donning their winter jackets, scarfs and snoods.

Centuries ago, this may have also been the time when gents decided to cut or at least trim their beard. Their beards would have done a fine job in the winter months keeping their faces warm from the chill, but in the summertime the opposite is the truth.

Nowadays this mass shaving ritual doesn’t seem to exist at all. The reasons is because beards aren’t grown out of necessity or because they are practical. They are grown because they are fashionable. That is the only reason.

If anything, regardless of the seasons, as time goes by you see more and more bearded men coming out into the daylight and showing their faces. The beard movement is alive and kicking and is fair from over. My brother is a staunch supporter of this cause.

In fact, grooming, taming, combing (whatever you want to call it) his beard is undoubtedly his new favourite hobby. So much so, that when it came to asking him what he wanted for his birthday he responded by asking for only beard related products.

At first I thought I’d buy him a grooming kit, that contains many different items, but after doing a bit of shopping around I came to the conclusion that these were far too expensive.

I eventually settled on a beard balm that I found on the boots website. It looks pretty great and I’m sure my brother will like it. Now, I want to hear your thoughts. Have you grown a beard recently? And has this new acquisition moved you into purchasing beardy items on the internet or on the high street? I’d love to know.

Ciao for now!

More coming your way

Where have we been? That’s the question I can hear on everyone’s lips. Granted it has been a hell of a long time since I last made a post but the good news is we have much more coming in the near future, including a new post that will go live in the next few days. Stay tuned and stick around!

How to Create The Perfect Bath

Hello once again. I don’t like to regularly toot my own horn, but I am a bit of an expert when it comes to running a relaxing and perfect bath, even though I say so myself. Over the years, I’ve explained my techniques to many friends, and they themselves have gone on to tell others too.

God knows how many people know about my bathing rituals by now. Well, a lot more people are about to find out now as I’ve decided to dedicate a whole post to it. I’ll be taking you through my entire process from start to finish.

To begin with, we need to talk about temperature. Everyone is different, and obviously this might mean that different people like different temperatures when running their baths. Personally I like mine to be fairly hot. Instant of wasting time trying to find that perfect temperature by running hot and cold water simultaneously, what I do is I fill up about 1/5 of the bath with cold water, and then 3/5 hot water. I leave 1/5 of the tub not filled with water, as I like my baths to be fairly deep.

the perfect bath

Once I’ve finished running the cold water and I’m moving onto the hot, that’s when I begin to add my special solutions that make the bath aromatic, relaxing, and bubbly.

Firstly I use a special bubble bath from Radox, and also add a dash of tea tree oil. This is fairly easy to come by and will really make the bath much more relaxing. Finally I will also add in a couple drops of peppermint extract in oil form. This will once again make the bath and entire room smell amazing. As it combines with the heat in the water, the steam that the bath gives off will fill your lungs and make you feel completely relaxed. Its definitely a must.

After you’ve done this, it’s also a great idea to light a few candles around the room to really set the mood. My personal favourite is yankee candles. So there you have it, that is my brief but complete guide to running the ultimate bath.

Keep The Good Vibes Coming

Is there anything in particular that you’d like for us to cover? As long as it is ok with you guys I am going to carry on with the theme of writing about health as it is one of my favourite topics to cover. More is on the way so don’t disappear just yet!

Does Listening To Music Affect Your Health?

Hello again friends. Today I want to veer off into a completely different direction and talk about a particular subject I’ve been reading about recently. Last week I was doing my usual thing in the evening. I get home from a long hard day of work, put my feet up in front of the television and surf the web. While I’m on the web I mainly like to read articles rather than watch videos. I’m not quite sure how I found it, but I stumbled upon this article that explains why listening to music can have a positive effect on our health.

A few of my friends (we’ve all got a few like this) do not like or listen to music. It’s unbelievable isn’t it? Every time I try and show them something new that I’ve been listening to they tell me they are not interested. I simply don’t understand it. This article I found gave me a bit of hope though. Maybe if I could show them this article and take them through some of its key points, they’ll begin to listen to some music. One of my favourite things to talk about with my close friends is new music we have been listening too, so obviously as it stood, I wasn’t able to have these types of conservation with a small amount of my friends.

I might as well tell you a bit more about the article itself and what it says. It stresses three clear points, in that studies have shown that music can help you in three different ways. Firstly it can help relieve chronic back pain. I know it sounds a bit silly by studies have shown this to be true. Apparently when we listen to slow, calming music, our heartbeat and blood pressure slow right down. This helps us to breathe at a slower pace, which can in turn reduce muscle tension in many areas of your body such as your neck, back and shoulders. Incredible!

back pain eased by music

Secondly it says that music can help you while you exercise. According to more studies, certain music can help improve your mood, increase your stamina, and is a good way of distracting you from pain and tension you feel in your body during the exercise.

Lastly, and this one may come as a bit of a surprise to some of you, apparently music can help you with memory loss. This makes sense in a number of ways. Firstly songs can trigger old memories. I can’t really explain how it works, but it does. I bet it’s happened to you before, where you hear a song and it somehow brings up a distant memory. For example, I was in the shower listening to some songs from my bluetooth shower speaker only the other day. A song came up on my playlist that I hadn’t heard in a while and it quickly brought up some memories of my time at university.

music memory

Another reason why this makes sense is that the area of the brain which processes sound, and hence music is actually next to the area of the brain that is responsible for memory. Who would have guessed that music can have a positive effect on your health in more ways than one! I’ll certainly be making more time for serious music sessions from now on.

A Breath of Fresh Air

Writing the post I published yesterday was really fun and surprisingly also gave a little bit of a boost when it comes to my own fiction writing. After I’d finished I felt as if I was on a bit of a roll so I continued and ended up writing until the middle of the night! I woke up this morning telling myself that I should do as much blogging as possible if it has that kind of effect on me, so expect a lot more from me in the near future.
